Advantages of Hinge

Load-Bearing Capability
These hinges are engineered to withstand significant loads and resist deformation, even when subjected to heavy weights. This load-bearing capacity ensures that the hinges can endure frequent use without experiencing premature wear or failure. Heavy-duty hinges are essential for commercial doors that experience high traffic and need reliable support.

Enhanced Design
Many heavy-duty hinges incorporate reinforced components and design improvements, such as thicker hinge plates, hinge pins, or ball bearings. These enhancements provide added strength and durability, effectively extending the hinge's operational life. For commercial doors, these design enhancements ensure that the hinges can handle the rigorous demands of daily use.

Quality Manufacturing
The production process of heavy-duty hinges typically involves precision machining and rigorous craftsmanship. Stringent quality control measures ensure that the hinges meet exacting standards, minimizing the risk of defects or early wear. High-quality door hinges, especially those made from stainless steel, are critical for maintaining the security and functionality of commercial doors.

Corrosion Protection
Heavy-duty hinges are often coated with corrosion-resistant finishes like zinc plating, powder coating, or chrome plating. These protective coatings act as barriers against moisture, chemicals, and other corrosive elements, preserving the hinge's structural integrity over time. This is particularly important for stainless steel door hinges used in commercial doors, where exposure to harsh elements can be frequent.

How to Size Your Hinges

The hinge height required is determined by the door thickness and the door width. The width of the door is important, because it affects the weight of the door. A wider door will need more load-bearing support for stability.
If the door is 1-3/8 inches thick and the width is no more than 32 inches, the hinge height is 3-1/2 inches. However, if the door is between 32 inches and 36 inches, the leaf height of the hinges must be increased to 4 inches to handle the increased weight.

How to Customize Hinge

Design and Programming

The process begins with designing the hinge using computer-aided design (CAD) software. Once the design is finalized, the specifications are translated into machine-readable instructions using CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software. These instructions dictate the movements of the CNC machines during the manufacturing process.

Material Selection

CNC hinges are typically crafted from durable materials such as steel, stainless steel, or brass. The selection of material depends on factors such as the desired strength, corrosion resistance, and aesthetic appeal of the hinge.

Precision Machining

CNC machining centers equipped with specialized tooling are used to precisely cut, shape, and drill the hinge components from raw material stock. The CNC machines follow the programmed instructions to ensure accuracy and consistency in every detail of the hinge.

Surface Finishing

After machining, the hinge components may undergo surface finishing processes such as polishing, plating, or powder coating to enhance their appearance and durability. Surface finishing also helps protect the hinges from corrosion and wear over time.

Assembly

Once the individual components are manufactured and finished, they are assembled into complete hinges. This may involve attaching pins, springs, or other moving parts as required by the hinge design.

Quality Control

Throughout the manufacturing process, rigorous quality control measures are implemented to ensure that each hinge meets the specified standards for dimensions, functionality, and appearance. This may include visual inspections, dimensional measurements, and functional testing of the hinges.

FAQ

Q: What is the difference between brass and stainless steel hinges?

A: Softness: Brass is a softer metal compared to steel, which may make brass hinges more susceptible to dents and scratches, particularly in high-traffic areas.

Q: What is the best type of hinge?

A: To mount a regular door, the most popular type of hinge is a butt hinge. These hinges come with both removable and un-removable pins. Loose pin systems are great because they allow you to detach the door without disassembling the hinge. Use a rising butt hinge when a floor covering may interfere with the door.

Q: What are the properties of stainless steel hinges?

A: Stainless steel hinges are highly resistant to both high and low temperatures. It can resist scaling while maintaining its high durable strength even at extremely high temperatures. Other varieties of stainless steel can retain exceptional toughness even at cryogenically low temperatures.

Q: What is the strongest hinge?

A: If we said that ball-bearing hinges are among the most durable on the market, we wouldn't be wrong. The primary purpose of this hinge type is to support doors that are heavy and wide. Just as we mentioned, you will typically find a ball bearing between the two separate knuckles.

Q: Are all kitchen cabinet hinges the same?

A: What to Consider When Selecting Cabinet Hinges. While there are a lot of different cabinet hinges to choose, which may seem overwhelming, each unique type will have different opening angles, crank, and material.

Q: How are stainless steel hinges made?

A: Most types of hinges are made by first extruding the stainless steel material and then cutting and drilling it to shape. Stainless steel hinges may also be stamped or roll formed, but the extrusion process is the most common because it adds extra tensile strength to the hinge.
