Advantages of Marine Parts

Stainless Steel Rod Holder

Durability That Lasts a Lifetime: One of the primary advantages of stainless steel rod holders is their unmatched durability. Unlike other materials like plastic or aluminum, stainless steel is incredibly robust and capable of withstanding the harsh marine environment.

Corrosion Resistance, A Must for Marine Environments: One of the greatest threats to boat accessories is corrosion caused by exposure to saltwater and moisture. Stainless steel rod holders are inherently resistant to corrosion, thanks to the chromium content in their alloy composition. This corrosion-resistant property makes them ideal for use in marine environments where constant exposure to saltwater is inevitable.

Low Maintenance Requirements: Boat owners appreciate the low maintenance nature of stainless steel rod holders. Unlike alternative materials that may require frequent cleaning or replacement due to corrosion, stainless steel rod holders are relatively easy to maintain. A simple rinse with fresh water after each use is usually sufficient to keep them clean and free from salt buildup.

Versatility and Style: In addition to their durability and corrosion resistance, stainless steel rod holders also offer versatility in terms of design and style. They are available in various configurations to accommodate different types of fishing rods and mounting locations on the boat.

Eccentric Latch

High stability: The eccentric locking latch offers a reliable and durable solution for securing doors, gates and other applications thanks to its galvanised steel construction and robust construction.

Secure closure: The fuse ensures a firm and reliable closure that can withstand heavy use.

Easy to install: The eccentric closure is very easy thanks to the included mounting plates and the pre-drilled holes.

Stainless Steel
Stainless steel is a popular material for marine parts due to its corrosion resistance, durability, and strength. It is commonly used for propellers, shafts, and other critical components.

Aluminum Alloys
Aluminum alloys are lightweight and have good corrosion resistance, making them a popular choice for marine parts such as hulls, superstructures, and other non-critical components.

Bronze
Bronze is a strong, corrosion-resistant material that is commonly used for propellers, rudder assemblies, and other marine components that require high strength and durability.

High-density Plastics
High-density plastics, such as polyethylene and polypropylene, are lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and have good impact resistance. They are commonly used for non-critical components such as piping, fittings, and cable insulation.

Titanium
Titanium is a strong, lightweight material that has excellent corrosion resistance, making it a good choice for marine components that require high strength and durability, such as propeller shafts and fasteners.

Carbon Fiber
Carbon fiber is a lightweight, high-strength material that is commonly used for marine components such as hulls and masts, where weight reduction is critical for improving vessel performance.

FAQ

Q: Are rod holders worth it?

A: Come windy days or choppy waters, a loose rod quickly becomes a safety hazard – there's the risk of damaging equipment or, even worse, someone on board. Rod holders provide that secure and stable solution to keep all rods in place in challenging conditions.

Q: What degree rod holder is best?

A: The 15-degree rod holder is the most popular option because you can put it in any location on the boat, except for the transom. For the best results, put it on the corner of the transom and the side of the boat, ensuring that it is angled away from outboard motors.

Q: What is a tubular latch?

A: The Tubular Latch is a simple closing device commonly used on internal doors where no lock is needed. The Tubular Mortice Latch is an evolution from a Mortice Lock, downsized so that it can be fitted with much less effort, and with minimal drilling and cutting to the door required.

Q: What is marine stainless steel?

A: SAE 316 stainless steel is a molybdenum-alloyed steel and the second most common austenitic stainless steel (after grade 304). It is the preferred steel for use in marine environments because of its greater resistance to pitting corrosion than most other grades of steel without molybdenum.

Q: What is the difference between a bolt and a latch?

A: There are 2 types of latches – latch and bolt. A latch automatically springs into the strike plate to hold the door into the closed position until the handle is operated. Contrastingly, a bolt can be withdrawn to allow the door to swing free, then manually thrown to secure the door.
